About the CPD course

This course provides a basic introduction to the use of statistics and how to interpret statistical data. The course is particularly suitable for anyone planning to undertake a simple statistical analysis or requiring help with interpretation of statistics commonly presented in academic papers and scientific reports. It covers: Identifying data types (e.g. continuous; binary; etc.); summarising data (using graphs and summary statistics); Interpreting confidence intervals and p-values; identifying appropriate statistical tests for different types of data; interpreting results of statistical tests such at t-tests and chi-squared tests; interpreting measures of association (such as risk ratios and odds ratios).
