Food operators in the UK have a duty to make customers aware of any food allergens present in the food they prepare and serve. Food allergies can be mild or severe. Around 3% of the UK population have a food allergy and are at risk of potentially life-threatening allergic reactions. It is therefore essential that consumers are provided with clear information when they buy food. This course provides general awareness of what food allergens are; how they can affect people; what the law says and how to avoid cross contamination. The course also provides links to other useful information.
