This 2nd International Veins Meeting by The College of Phlebology will showcase live male & female Pelvic Vein Embolisation cases; haemorrhoid ablation procedures; live EndoVenous surgery; live Duplex Scanning both TransVaginal; abdominal; scrotal and leg veins; with the audience able to question the operators. The second stream will concentrate on the science and developments in venous surgery; including cellular biology; haemodynamics but also going into new techniques and aesthetic vein treatments. The third stream will be run by the Leg Ulcer Charity in conjunction with the Lindsay Leg Club Foundation; concentrating only on leg ulcers; how best to investigate and treat them; and how to differentiate curable from incurable. There will also be numerous hands on workshops including sessions on Air Plethysmography.

Reprieve Director; Maya Foa; discusses how for decades; lethal injection has been the lynchpin of the U.S. capital punishment system. By lending the process a mask of medical legitimacy; this method of execution has preserved the pervasive myth of the humane execution; and has helped maintain public and political support for the continued use of the death penalty. Behind the mask; however; lethal injection is just as brutal as the gas chamber or the electric chair. Conducted using experimental drug cocktails administered by untrained prison officials; lethal injection was recently described by one Supreme Court Justice as “the chemical equivalent of being burned at the stake”.
