Mind and body: Practical management of older and frail patients
The Grand Central Hotel
Glasgow
Wednesday 18th April 2018
12:45pm - 4:30pm
The management of older persons is challenging; often frail and harbouring multiple comorbidities; these patients have a wide range of physical and psychological needs. Although general practice is ideally placed to manage these patients; the practicalities of being a GP is often at odds with the time required to assess this complex population and adopt individualised management strategies. Through a series of practically-focussed talks and case studies; we will examine the complex interplay between body and mind; exploring relevant topics including frailty; insomnia; depression; pain and dementia. This unique angle aims to equip attendees with the knowledge and competence to take a holistic approach to managing older patients; supporting both pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods.
