Our Centre facilitates communication amongst practitioners involved in clinical work with infants and families and in research on infant development and infant-parent issues.

CPD Courses and Workshops Available

  • Newborn Behavioural Observations System

Training Course | Brazelton Centre UK

    Brazelton Centre UK

This course aims to support clinicians and parents to observe infants behavioural capacities and identify the type of support infants need for successful growth and development. The training will consist of baby observations designed to support parents in reading their own baby’s signals and cues. Research has shown this promotes positive interactions; increases parental confidence in caregiving; and practitioners’ knowledge and confidence.

  • Neonatal Behavioural Assessment Scale (NBAS)

Training Course | Brazelton Centre UK

    Brazelton Centre UK

This course aims to provide a rich behavioural profile of the baby from birth to 2 months old; by observing in detail the autonomic; motor; state and social interactive systems. It is a rich research and clinical tool used to determine optimal recommendations for caregiving. The NBAS is recommended in: Healthy Child Programme (DOH; 2009); National Health Visiting Service Specification (2015/16); Specialist Health Visitors in Perinatal & Infant Mental Health (2016).

  • Understanding and supporting parent-child relationships
