Organisation Description

We’re a Luton based and volunteer-led Christian and Muslim partnership that’s been working to strengthen resilience in faith communities and enhance child sexual exploitation (CSE) awareness since 2016. We focus on offering training, running youth workshops and challenging misleading and damaging messages in the CSE discourse. As a faith-based organisaiton, we centre our values of compassion, justice, and peace throughout our work.

CPD Courses and Workshops Available

  • Safeguarding and Prejudice training

Training Course | Faiths Against Child Sexual Exploitation (FACES)

Faiths Against Child Sexual Exploitation (FACES)

This training is a development opportunity for people who work with diverse groups of young people; and will better equip learners to manage possible biases and prejudices; and incorporate a nuanced understanding into their safeguarding practice. A young person’s identity; their gender; faith; culture or ethnicity can be a factor in how professionals and other adults engage with them and respond to safeguarding concerns. In contexts where there is diversity between practitioners and decision makers; and young people; the presence of unconscious and conscious bias and prejudice may be more likely; which can increase barriers to identifying safeguarding concerns and shaping appropriate responses.

  • Child Sexual Exploitation Training

Training Course | Faiths Against Child Sexual Exploitation (FACES)

Faiths Against Child Sexual Exploitation (FACES)

Bringing evidence-based learning and current thinking into 3 hours of training. The session covers exploitation; grooming; barriers to protection; consent and choice; and explores victim’s experiences and different manifestations of child sexual exploitation. The training is for anyone with a safeguarding responsibility including those working directly with children and young people in teaching; extracurricular or pastoral settings; and individuals within leadership or supervisory roles. Our training is mindful of different faith and cultural contexts; and tackles challenges to cohesion by dispelling misunderstanding and misinformation about the roles religion; ethnicity and culture have in determining perpetrators and victims of CSE.
