This course provides a fundamental understanding of how to teach maths for mastery. It explores such crucial elements of the Singaporean approach as: a set of pedagogical principles based on the work of key educational thinkers that underpin teaching for mastery; a way of delivering learning in the classroom; i.e. the three-part lesson whilst applying the Concrete; Pictorial; Abstract (CPA) Approach and a number of tools enabling pupils to develop relational understanding: ten frames; number bonds; and bar modelling. Teachers will leave with a basic understanding of how to teach maths effectively helping their pupils to achieve a high level of fluency and flexible thinking.
