  • Safeguarding Training

    Training Course | Greater London Fostering

    Greater London Fostering

    Safeguarding Training aimed at foster carers and those working with foster carers. This course considers and explores any allegation that a person who works with children or volunteers has behaved in a way that has harmed; or may have harmed; a child. The child’s interests are paramount and their views and wishes must be given careful consideration at all times. The course explores the process of investigation work with the child’s social worker who should normally interview the child. They should look at all factors – the context; the placement history; and information from the foster carers. Depending on the concerns; there will be a report presented to Panel which will trigger a review of the foster carer’s approval so that a recommendation can be made.   • Life Story Training

    Greater London Fostering

    To explore: ‘What is life story work and why is it important’ To explore the Legal Framework and TSDS. To explore the impact upon identity and attachment; and the role of the Local Authority (Child’s) Social Worker; the foster carer’s role. To enable participants to understand Life story work. This means telling the story of a child’s life history to enable the child to understand their past. The “life story book” is the means of recording information about the child’s past in an accessible way for the child. It will include both photos and narrative. For the majority of children this will be the tangible outcome of life story work.

    Introduction to Fostering Training is aimed at people are interested in becoming foster carers; applicants and foster carers and those working with looked after or vulnerable children. This course considers and explores the importance of continuing a family life; about the importance of providing love and support and explains in summary the requirements. The child’s interests are paramount and their views and wishes be given careful consideration at all times. The course will introduce explanations about why children come into care; the team of support around the child; a day in the life of a foster carer and child.
