  • Motivational Interviewing

Training Course | In-Trac Training & Consultancy Ltd

There is an extensive literature demonstrating that Motivational Interviewing is highly effective in assisting people to make behavioural change. This includes; addictive behaviours; eating disorders; managing diabetes; sexual health clinics and adapting to life after stroke. It is particularly effective when working with individuals who may be reluctant to engage. In addition; there is evidence that using MI reduces worker stress (physiologically) and sickness days. The training we offer offers practitioners the opportunity to be introduced to and increase confidence in using the approach in a protected environment. This includes further learning in how to respond to sustain talk or discord in the worker-service user relationship. The workshop will also introduce the focusing aspect of MI and giving advice and information within an MI approach. Our trainers are members of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT); an international organisation committed to best practice in Motivational Interviewing; of which the authors of the approach (Miller & Rollnick) are members
