  • FutureLearn open online course 'Big Data and the Environment'

Online Course | Institute for Environmental Analytics

    Institute for Environmental Analytics

From invasive species to climate change to urban planning; explore the ever-evolving world of environmental data. Measuring the environment generates big data and vast datasets need careful handling to analyse and understand the environment. From sources such as satellites; sensors and social media; environmental data analytics can benefit business and research. In week one we look at sources of big data and the business opportunities of analytics. In the second week we talk to data scientists and the challenge of finding the right dataset; including making data open. In the third and final week we show the value of citizen science and the power of visualising data; along with real-life examples of environmental analytics.
