Foundation Coaching Skills
Training Course | Medway NHS Foundation Trust
This workshop imparts the essential skills required for being an effective coach and using these skills when line managing and developing direct reports. This is a practical course; where the delegates will be given and minimum of two opportunities to micro-coach and receive feedback on their practise by a trained coach. We explore the dichotomy of leaving choice and responsibility with the coachee and the line manager’s requirement to set and maintain standards. We also work through the sometimes challenging issue of coaching being seen as a remedial intervention; put in place by a senior. We look at how we manage those expectations whilst still being able to coach ethically.

Recruitment and Retention Training
Training Course | Medway NHS Foundation Trust
This is a one day training programme taking appointing managers through the whole recruiting process: from the Vacancy Control Panel to the Local Induction Programme for the new recruit. We focus on the legalities involved with employing a new member of staff and how the policies and procedures underpin the Trust’s recruitment process. We begin by creating the job description and person specification; we then move onto creating an advert that will attract the right person. We prepare for the interview; in particular concentrating on effective questioning and carrying out a couple of mock-interviews with post-exercise feedback. We then finish by looking at the induction process.

Additionally we look at how to manage the dynamics of a diverse team; each with their own inner world. We consider the multitudinous standards within which they must operate and maintain and how to balance these with the needs of the service; their direct reports and line managers. We also spent time on coaching skills and the ability to present information clearly.
