Provides a programme of continuing professional development open to all School and Academy Governors through training events and conferences together with a range of partners as part of the Nottingham Governance Academy.

  • Safeguarding Update

    Training Course | Nottingham City Council

    This is an updating course on safeguarding of children and young people. It covers legislation and guidance, forms of abuse, levels of safeguarding, increased vulnerability and risk factors, Daniel Pelka case study, hot topics and current trends. This course is not for new recruits or first time trainees but those needing 3 year update.

  • Financial Responsibilities For School Governors

    Training Course | Nottingham City Council

    This course is an introduction to governor responsibilities in respect of finance and budget management in local authority maintained schools. It will cover the role of school governor, school funding, budget management and schools financial value standard.

  • Budget Management For Academies

    Training Course | Nottingham City Council

    This course is aimed at head teachers, school business managers and administrators of academies to provide an overview of budget planning, monitoring and controlling process.

  • Governor Induction Module 1

  • Health & Safety For Governors

    This course provides an introduction to governor responsibilities in respect of health and safety in local authority maintained schools, academies and pru's.

  • Performance Management

    This training course is designed to help attendees understand the role of a performance management governor and a requirement to be part of the Nottingham Academy "Fellow" level.

  • Dealing with Concerns and Complaints

    This course will focus on supporting governors to understand their role and involvement in the concerns and complaints procedure and ensure that an effective schools complaints policy is established.

  • Monitoring and Evaluation

    This course will focus on the role of the governing body in the monitoring process and identifying and collating useful data and information in order to effectively evaluate school progress. There will be an opportunity to work in small groups to share examples of current monitoring and evaluation processes and consider good practice in effective monitoring and evaluation.

  • The Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Governor

    This course provides an overall awareness of SEND and the legislation surrounding it; including requirements for schools; the role of the SENCO and understanding the monitoring and evaluation role of the SEND governor.

  • Improving Effective Governance

  • Finance for Academies

    This course provides an overview of the responsibilities and financial accountabilities for governors of academies

  • Vulnerable Learners

    This course looks at the role of the governing body in securing the best outcomes for all children and young people.

  • Basic Awareness in Safeguarding and Promoting the Welfare of Children

    Training Course | Nottingham City Council

    This is a three hour training course to develop understanding of safeguarding and child protection including signs and indicators of abuse. Participants will know what to do if they have concerns about a child and the support they can expect to receive.
