YMCA DownsLink Group is a registered charity working across Sussex and Surrey to provide a variety of services and projects to the local communities. Children, young people and families are at the heart of YMCA DownsLink Group with a particular focus on the needs of young people who find themselves on the fringes of society and need support.

Lone working – Practical steps to personal safety
Training Course | YMCA DownsLink Group
Many staff lone work in the course of their daily work; and this course is designed to help attendees identify risks associated with lone working in their particular roles; particularly focusing on the risk of violent or aggressive behaviour presented by other people; be those service users or members of the public. Attendees will identify and consider the risks associated to their workplace and create an action plan for themselves and where relevant; their team; to mitigate those risks where possible. Candidates will also spend some time considering how to handle confrontation if it should occur.

Equalities and Diversity is crucial for all staff to understand; to ensure they support the maintenance of inclusive; positive and fair working environments for service users and staff alike. The aim of this training is to build awareness and understanding of Equalities & Diversity as an important area in all staff’s work and their responsibilities in their own roles; for their team and their wider organisation.

Professional boundaries in the workplace with both clients and colleagues can be a difficult and sometimes feels a subjective area for all parties. This course aims to give participants the chance to consider why professional boundaries are important in our work; what they consist of; best practice in situations specific to their work and how best to avoid breeches of boundaries. This course is relevant to all workers; and in particular those having direct contact with service users.
