Effective communication skills are vital if GPs are to be sensitive and responsive to the needs of patients with dementia and improve the quality of their life. GPs in busy practices often complain that they do not have the time to communicate with patients. Communication is the exchange of information in the form of messages; symbols; thoughts; signs and opinions. There are many different types of communication; but there are only a few that are effective when working with dementia patients. This course will help GPs and other health professionals communicate effectively with Dementia patients.
