The objectives of this accredited course are to provide all ambulance personnel involved in planning or support of the Plus Size (Bariatric Service User) in the health and social care sector with a greater insight into the management of the larger patient and focus on the principles of safer handling. To assist with effective planning for the transfer of this patient group both for planned transfers and Emergency evacuations to Hospital. Demonstrating that every patient is different and must be considered individually. A Practical Based course on the Manual Handling of the Bariatric Patient Including; Pre course reading on the bariatric patient (PDF) prior to attending course. Summary PowerPoint including protocols for the safer management of this patient group; case studies; Manual Handling Profiles & Equipment Pathways. Practical demonstrations of techniques; looking at body dynamics (shape/size) & Practical group problem solving scenarios MDA (Multi-Disciplinary Approach) using the Empathy suit.
