Skin Lighteners: Skin Heroes or Skin Villains?

The session is primarily aimed at health professionals working within medical skin care services. In particular those with prescribing responsibilities for the treatment of melasma and post inflammatory pigmentation will find the course content informative. Emphasis will be placed on effective interprofessional team working and patient communication. The specific indications for the use of Skin Lighteners along with its mechanism of action and suppression of melanin synthesis will be discussed. Recognition of potential side effects/adverse will be discussed at length and delegates will be required to feedback on several case scenarios to ensure their understanding and reinforce recognition and awareness of adverse events and of safe prescribing parameters.
