The Halal Social Entrepreneurship course offers a comprehensive overview of entrepreneurship; comparing Islamic and conventional theories. Students will learn to define social entrepreneurship; understand the role of social entrepreneurs; and explore community-led enterprises. The course covers opportunity identification frameworks and examines business model development; including the Business Model Canvas. Key topics include co-creation; writing business plans; and choosing organizational structures. Students will also explore social impact investing; learn fundraising strategies; and conduct social impact assessments; including Maqasid-based methods. Marketing strategies for social enterprises and insights from recent research and case studies round out the curriculum.
