About the CPD course

The training will highlight the effect poor mouth care can have on the quality of life of residents; both physically and psychologically. Mouth care is a fundamental aspect of personal care and is considered one of the most basic nursing activities. Older people are especially vulnerable to mouth problems. Providing effective mouth care can: · Improve quality of life; Reduce admission rates to hospital with chest infections; Improve nutrition hydration intake; Reduce risk of behavioural changes due to pain within dementia patients; Improve overall wellbeing and dignity; Make a resident's last days of life more comfortable.
