CPD: a collaborative approach to reducing waste in construction

The construction industry produces circa 60 million tonnes of waste; equivalent to Europe’s population. Ensuring participants understand their duties in law; this session invites them to consider what they might do differently if they can accurately predict and reduce waste. We explore how a better understanding of waste first principles; we can predict; manage; reduce and prevent waste on projects and how smarter procurement approaches; exemplified by SCAPE Group frameworks; can revolutionise construction waste management. The ‘Construction Waste Portal’ is introduced as a digital tool that enables a more holistic; crowdsourced planning approach; and the PAS 402 standard as a critical element in transparent fulfilment of duty of care through the waste management value chain.
