Remembering; Forgetting and the Neurobiological Basis of Identity
The Neuropsychoanalysis Centre
About the CPD course
This course provides fascinating and clinically relevant insights into current neuroscientific understandings of memory processes and how these are relevant to psychotherapeutic work with patients. It outlines the different types of memory processes; while focussing particularly on the functioning of the medial temporal lobes. Professor Alberini draws on her vast knowledge in explaining concepts such as consolidation; reconsolidation; extinction and infantile amnesia in relation to findings from rodent studies.
The Neuropsychoanalysis Association is an international network of non-profit organizations that support a dialogue between the neurosciences and psychoanalysis. Based in New York City, London, and Cape Town, we provide resources for clinicians, researchers, students, and the general public, including our journal, conferences, research grants, and educational programs.
