This module provides professional training in the theory and practice of safety engineering processes and techniques as applied within the railway industry. It consists of a complete online course divided into chapters which can be taken one at a time. The course material is presented using graphics; audio files and on-screen text. There are integral tasks within the chapters to help embed learning through practice; and there is a test involving multiple choice questions which must be completed at the end in order for the student to demonstrate that they have taken on-board the learning requirements.

The course provides professional training in the theory and practice of RAM (Reliability; Availability and Maintainability) engineering processes and techniques as applied within the railway industry.It consists of a complete online course with materials presented using graphics; audio files and on-screen text. Live interactive sessions with the tutors will be arranged in small groups of participants for tutorial and clarification of any doubts.There are integral tasks within the chapters to help embed learning through practice; and there is a test at the end; in order for the students to demonstrate that they have taken on-board the learning requirements.

The course also includes basics of System engineering /Assurance processes required for the implementation of RAMS in the railway. It consists of online course presented using graphics; audio files and on-screen text. Further the course includes live interactive support sessions. There are tasks within the chapters to help embed learning through practice. To assess the understanding of the participants there are Tests at the end of the safety and RAM sections and a written examination at the end of the course.
