World Obesity Live - Telemedicine for obesity management: a temporary or long-term solution?
12 Jun 2020
About the event
Front line workers are striving to ensure that patients receive the appropriate care; and treatment they need. Meanwhile; ‘in-person visits’ for obesity care have shifted to virtual means of connecting; which presents both positive and negative effects for patients and physicians. By offering structure and daily routines to patients we see an increased opportunity for behaviour change during social distancing. Overall; the use of digital technologies to deliver care; health education and public health services (i.e. video conferencing for real time patient provider communication) has been revolutionary and it is crucial to explore their potential to manage obesity during the current pandemic and in normal times.
The World Obesity Federation is a professional society and health advocacy organisation, representing professional members of the scientific, medical and research communities from over 100 countries globally.
