Social Housing Conference

12 May 2021

About the event

Recently marked 100 years since the Addison Act- formed by Dr Christopher Addison in 1919 to create Government housing for British veterans returning from the first World War. Currently there are around 2 million council homes in the UK; compared to 6 million in 1980. The Right to Buy scheme introduced in 1980 is the key reasons behind this decrease. The government has promised “300;000 new homes a year by the mid-2020s”to help eliminate the approximately 1 million on housing waiting lists. Join us for our event that examines the status of contemporary social housing in the UK.
