REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE AGE OF LEVELLING UP

12 May 2022

About the event

The New Statesman’s annual Regional Development Conference is a day of fascinating insights and discussions centred around the most pressing questions for the future of the levelling up strategy and local growth. Join us on Thursday 12th May 2022 in Birmingham (Hilton Birmingham Metropole; B40 1PP); home of the 2022 Commonwealth Games; to hear insights from leaders in policymaking and industry on what’s next for regional development. With the establishment of the new Department for Levelling Up; Housing and Communities; the levelling up agenda is truly at the heart of UK policymaking. Through panels; live interviews; speeches and debates; leading parliamentarians; local government representatives and industry figures will explore policy areas ranging from social mobility and skills challenges to local government; transport and investment. Past speakers have included Kwasi Kwarteng MP; Jake Berry MP; Lord Heseltine; Andy Burnham; Lisa Nandy MP; Lord Bethell; Gillian Keegan MP and Lou Cordwell OBE among others. We welcomed over 200 influential guests at our previous conferences and are expecting a similarly strong calibre of guests and speakers in 2022.
