05 Oct 2022

About the event

Gain the specific knowledge and practical skills needed to work successfully as a copy-editor in your communications role: the publishing industry: in-house: or simply if you need to produce high-end content. Through a series of practical exercises: you will learn to approach the printed word more analytically and critically: allowing you to spot errors quickly and have the confidence to rewrite the everyday text into concise: precise and compelling editorial copy at high speed. The course will cover the basics of copy editing: including the difference between proofreading and editing. Learn the flow of a copy editor from start to end whilst focusing on important aspects of the role such as grammar: spelling and common mistakes in punctuation. The course covers how to work to a house style: essential typography and working with figures. Gain a full understanding of how to write compelling copy: interesting headlines and produce content that works. The course is suitable for proof-readers looking to enhance their freelancing opportunities: those within publishing houses: working in communications: content producers: or those who have done some editing work but lack formal training.
