Telling hidden stories: how introducing texts to young readers deepens independent reading comprehension with Richard Boxall
12 Oct 2022
About the event
Find out how introducing texts to young readers can help to deepen independent reading comprehension. The session will draw upon Daily Supported Reading practices which help pupils to express their opinions and responses whilst reading with increasing fluency and understanding. Designed to foster reading skills through daily independent reading; Daily Supported Reading encourages children to think on the run; and engage with the text by enjoying the sense of a story.
Supporting schools and libraries for over 90 years, we publish and sell award-winning children’s books and education resources. We believe that independent reading is a critical part of children’s learning and growth. With support from teachers, parents and schools, children choose from Scholastic the books they want to read, and discover the pleasure and power of reading.
