ESG has been an uneasy marriage of investors looking for financial returns and those prioritizing social ones. There has been recent attention to greenwashing; which caused the anti-woke and woke debate. However; almost all firms are issuing disclosures such as ESG reports claiming that ESG is not an important investment activity. Against this backdrop; finding ESG factors that deliver financial return is important. This talk will comment about the state of ESG investing and go through the ESG initiatives that are likely to see a financial payoff; and what it will take for the sector to continue to thrive.
