Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) affect 5–10% of all pregnancies and include gestational hypertension; pre-eclampsia and eclampsia. Pre-eclampsia is a major cause of poor pregnancy outcomes as well as leading to long-term negative health outcomes. Gestational hypertension is associated with long-term cardiovascular consequences. During the transition to menopause; women's susceptibility to CVD significantly increases and remains high post-menopause; mainly due to accelerated vascular ageing; which plays a crucial role in the development of hypertension. There are unmet needs in real-world clinical care relating to the management of cardiovascular risks in pregnancy and during menopause.
