Management of endometriosis associated infertility'
10 Oct 2017
About the event
Endometriosis is a relatively common gynaecological condition which affects 5-10% of the general female population. It is known to increase the possibility of infertility. Whilst distortion to pelvic anatomy may explain reduced fertility; the mechanisms in early endometriosis are not clearly understood. The management options include surgery for endometriosis; intrauterine insemination and assisted reproductive technology (IVF/ICSI). Endometriosis and its surgical treatment may affect chances of success with IVF/ICSI treatment and a number of factors including the woman's age; previous surgery; ovarian reserve and presence/absence of pain symptoms will need to be taken into account when management decisions are made.
The CRGH consistently delivers top success rates in IVF and other assisted reproductive treatments, making us one of the best fertility centres in the UK. We currently have the highest live birth rate for IVF in London (per embryo transferred), and the largest series of live births from egg freezing treatment in the UK, as recognised by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA).
