About the event
Endometriosis is a relatively common gynaecological condition which affects 5-10% of the general female population. It is known to increase the possibility of infertility. Whilst distortion to pelvic anatomy may explain reduced fertility; the mechanisms in early endometriosis are not clearly understood. The management options include surgery for endometriosis; intrauterine insemination and assisted reproductive technology (IVF/ICSI). Endometriosis and its surgical treatment may affect chances of success with IVF/ICSI treatment and a number of factors including the woman's age; previous surgery; ovarian reserve and presence/absence of pain symptoms will need to be taken into account when management decisions are made.
The Centre for Reproductive and Genetic Health, known as CRGH, was founded in 1990 with a simple goal: that everyone should have the best possible chance to create a healthy family, without exception.
With this goal in mind, CRGH have consistently been pioneers in fertility treatments for over thirty years, championing new treatments, techniques and technology.
