CPD in the Nursing sector

The nursing sector carries out important work caring for patients and supporting doctors both in GP surgeries and in hospitals. The nursing role is vital in ensuring that patients are able to get the best care available. The nursing sector is a dynamic, highly skilled and an integral part of the medical and healthcare industry. It is important for nurses to keep up to date with best practices, as well as industry changes and regulations, and so completing various nursing courses, events and further learning is a great way to improve on an individual basis and the sector as a whole.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is considered by the Royal College of Nursing as an important element to the role of any nurse by which high quality patient care is identified, maintained and developed. For example, The Royal College of Nursing considers 45 CPD hours as suitable for any given year, and the Nurses & Midwifery Council explain that all midwives and nurses must undertake at least 35 hours of relevant learning every 3 years.
