Please provide us with a brief overview of your organisation. What do you do?
We support NHS and private practices with, among other things, policies, health and safety audits, and staff training.
Why did you become a CPD provider?
Because we found that we were very often the ones that were approached when a new policy or training was needed. When Covid-19 changed the way we worked we were asked did we have guidelines? We said no, but we can make them.
How did you implement CPD accreditation in your organisation?
As the healthcare climate constantly changes, or as I joke the goal posts get moved we regularly review development needs. We have meetings to discuss how the needs should be met, is it admin, clinical? Is it needed because of changes outside the organisation i.e., CQC. We share ideas and discuss a realistic timescale for reviewing. We promote a culture of shared learning and support, staff are always encouraged to manage their own CPD in the knowledge they are fully supported should they need guidance. The importance of networking is never forgotten, we have a WhatsApp group where training events are shared, as we grow this may need to become regional.
How has CPD helped your organisation achieve its learning objectives?
Not just this organisation, but every healthcare setting I have been part of has benefitted in having a robust staff training programme implemented, where, not only staff confidence is built through supported learning but also patients confidence is built with the knowledge their practice is keeping up to date with their skills.
