About the CPD course

Trauma-Informed Practice is a strengths-based approach; which recognises the prevalence of trauma and its impact on the emotional; psychological and social wellbeing of people. This course examines what Trauma Informed Practice is and why we need to work in this way (drivers; research; implications for practice). We explore in detail the principles of TIP (Recognise (prevalence; manifestations and behaviours); Respond (regulation; relationships); Avoid re traumatisation (practitioners and systems response); Building resilience (secure base; self-esteem; emotional intelligence) Repair (relationships/repair). We also consider how Trauma affects staff (compassion; fatigue; secondary/vicarious stress) and ways to build resilience in ourselves and our team/service.

Interface was initially established in March 2010, by members of the former Families Delivery Team, Families at Risk Division at the Department for Education (DfE).
