This course focuses on support for groups to alleviate the initial impact of a traumatic event in the workplace. A simple 3 step model; (defusing) is detailed with its associated aims and objectives. The mistakes that are commonly made by helpers are identified and the course details how to work safely and manage obstacles and challenges to the support process. Skills practice sessions embed this learning. The course considers attendance management and how defusers can contribute to supporting employees back into the workplace. The learning is set in the context of the organisationÂ’s overall support programme.
