About the CPD course
Interactive online training for education practitioners to understand widening participation and how, by participating in the agenda, we can help students in school and beyond to overcome barriers to higher education.
BY JOINING THE SESSION YOU WILL:
• Understand what widening participation is, which students it involves and the relevance to schools
• Identify the common barriers that underrepresented groups face in accessing and progressing onto higher education
• Explore the support on offer from higher education institutions to address the gap in progression
• Begin to plan how you and your school can help widen access to higher education for your students

Southern Universities Network (University of Southampton)
The Southern Universities Network (SUN) is a collaborative partnership comprising HE providers in Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight. The SUN provides outreach activities for schools and colleges as part of Uni Connect – an Office for Students (OfS)-funded project. The SUN has been tasked with increasing HE participation in over 70 wards, working with 104 schools and all further education (FE) colleges in the region.
