This 30 minute community of practice session is delivered by Paola Falcoski who is an advanced specialist eating disorder dietician who has expertise in Autism. She discusses the prevalence of autism and an eating disorder and the importance of understanding how autistic people may present differently to non-autistic people when accessing an eating disorder service. She covers the importance of adapting practice to ensure that treatment is successful and how this may look different for autistic people. It looks at the challenges autistic people face when accessing inpatient units and finally gives some links to resources on the subject area.
The National Neurodivergence Team is funded by Welsh Government to help improve the lives of neurodivergent people and their families across Wales.
The Team does this in several ways – through co-produced training and resources, practice sharing and promoting the needs of neurodivergent people.
The Team’s website, NeurodivergenceWales.org is a key part of the National Neurodivergence Team’s offer. It contains a range of bilingual, free-to-access information and resources on many topics relating to neurodivergence, including e-learning modules developed in partnership with neurodivergent people, parents, carers and professionals to help give a better understanding of autism and ADHD.
