This module looks at the barriers autistic people have faced before; during and after assessment appointments/discussions or meetings. Autistic people speak about their experiences and give advice and ideas on what would have been helpful and how practice can be adapted. Assessments are carried out in numerous settings such as social care; housing teams; youth teams and in both primary and secondary health care. This module will help anyone who is in a role where they meet with people and need to ask questions in order to make a decision; develop a plan; or provide information or advice.
The National Neurodivergence Team is funded by Welsh Government to help improve the lives of neurodivergent people and their families across Wales.
The Team does this in several ways – through co-produced training and resources, practice sharing and promoting the needs of neurodivergent people.
The Team’s website, NeurodivergenceWales.org is a key part of the National Neurodivergence Team’s offer. It contains a range of bilingual, free-to-access information and resources on many topics relating to neurodivergence, including e-learning modules developed in partnership with neurodivergent people, parents, carers and professionals to help give a better understanding of autism and ADHD.
