About the CPD course
This Oxplore Teach module looks at research into young people from backgrounds of socio-economic disadvantage who went on to become high attainers at secondary school. Studies show that some of the factors that enabled them to succeed and thrive in education include high academic self-concept; self-efficacy and access to cultural capital. This module suggests ways in which teachers and other educators can support pupils to access these protective factors; including through free Oxplore Challenge activities.
Oxford is a collegiate university, consisting of the central University and colleges. The central University is composed of academic departments and research centres, administrative departments, libraries and museums. The 38 colleges are self-governing and financially independent institutions, which are related to the central University in a federal system. Our 13,000 staff and 22,000 students come from a wide range of backgrounds and over 140 countries and territories, making Oxford a diverse and dynamic place to work and study.
